There’s no better way to get around and explore Amsterdam than on 2 wheels, and when you’re not exploring by bicycle, make sure to take in a cruise on the famous canals. For those interested in culture, check out the Museumplein and visit the many museums there including the Van Gogh museum, or go a little further and explore the castles, palaces and fortresses in the surrounding area. And for those who are looking to relax, there’s no better place to enjoy great food and drink outdoors at one of the many cafés littered around the city.
Between its history and stunning views over the Garonne, not to mention the diversity of neighbourhoods to explore and restaurants to try…. there’s so much to do during a weekend trip to Bordeaux. And that’s before getting started on the vineyards that surround the city – not to mention the wine they produce! Relax and unwind in this beautiful city and sample the local tastes this November.
Whether you’re into modern architecture or historic castles, Copenhagen won’t disappoint. A city for families, friends, couples, and those travelling solo, everyone will find something to enjoy. Copenhagen is famous for its foodie scene, with plenty of local delicacies to be enjoyed. And for days out, you can visit the zoo, the aquarium, learn about Viking history at the Viking Ship Museum in nearby Roskilde or take a short trip to Bakken – the oldest amusement park in the world!
November is a great time to visit Barcelona, with fewer crowds of tourists yet typically still plenty of sunshine and milder temperatures. There is plenty to see and do, so be amazed by Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia and take a walk down the Ramblas and get lots in the Gothis Quarter or up into Park Güell for breathtaking views of the city. Barcelona is also a haven for shoppers, with everything from big brands to small boutiques, not to mention the spectacular restaurants and bars to be found everywhere.
Prague is one of Europe’s most picturesque cities, and it really comes to life in Winter! No trip to the city is complete without a visit to Prague Castle, and in December they’ll be running two Christmas Markets with over 70 stalls selling everything from handmade wooden toys to hot food and drinks. There are even more Christmas Markets to be found across the city, including the main one at Old Town Square with the city’s largest Christmas tree too. And for the romantics, why not go ice skating or take a stroll across Charles Bridge in the evening and see the famous gas-powered lamplights.
December is the perfect time of year to visit Cologne, with loads of Christmas Markets to choose from, including with the 4 main ones located at the Cologne Cathedral, on the Alter Markt, on the Neumarkt and on the Rudolfplatz. When it comes to culture, there’s plenty to explore, whether it is the city’s museums and Romanesque churches to a wide spectrum of fountains and monuments. You can walk through the quaint alleys of Cologne’s city centre, where you will find traditional buildings and plenty of places to eat and drink. Plus the Cologne Opera, the Philharmonic Orchestra and the city’s many theatres offer a wide variety of concerts and other performances to be enjoyed all year round.
